Watch one of literature’s most infamous monsters step onto the canvas.

Dracula and his Brides come to life in this time-lapse video which follows the creation of an original 24 x 18-inch handmade oil painting by artist Brian C. Hailes. From the first layers to the final details, see the painting take shape through the traditional oil painting process, bringing a dark and timeless piece of classic literature into the world of fine art.

This painting is part of Hailes’ ongoing personal challenge to create 100 original paintings inspired by classic literature—a celebration of the stories, characters, and legends that have captivated readers for generations. Many of these works will also become part of his Maidens & Monsters collection, where beauty, mystery, mythology, and the macabre meet on canvas or wooden panel.

Bram Stoker’s Dracula has haunted readers for more than a century. Now, this legendary vampire and his alluring brides get a new interpretation through traditional oil painting.
